Most catfish anglers normally use a powerful 12ft spod rod, which is too long when playing these awesome fish. Des Taylor and many expert cat anglers have found that you don't need a 12ft rod for bank fishing but a shorter, more controllable, 10ft 6" length, that fits the bill both in the UK and Europe.

The biggest fish he caught in the UK was 45lb, boat fishing with the rod at 8ft, and a 130lb monster whilst fishing Spains River Ebro, with the rod at 10ft 6" from the bank.
