Century Kompressor SS
The Kompressor SS is a more powerful version of the Kompressor S (see link below). Danny Moeskops who had a huge influence in the design of the Kompressor SS wanted to retain intrinsic smoothness in the cast. Load up with 175 gram plus baited trace, reel brimming with line, 12 turns of 80lb shock leader and send it all into effortlessly into big seas and really rough ground. The upper tip retains the same compression curve of the Kompressor S however the lower barrel of the tip and butt is more powerful allowing energy to be stored and released through a series of enhanced Gearboxes. The smoothness of delivery is a revelation and the rod recovers quickly to allow the fast passage of line. This smoothness cannot be overemphasized and it is a benefit we have spent a considerable amount of time achieving to give 100% feedback from the cast. Consider kelp jungles, really tough conditions that anglers encounter on the eastern seaboard of Scotland down to Yorkshire, Northern Scotland with its deep sea lochs, Wales and Cornwall, where local and roving anglers can battle the elements with confidence. The Kompressor SS has been completely evaluated in these venues by anglers who were impressed by the power, lightness and slimness of the rod that can send a baited trace and 200gm lead a long way.

For the past 30 years Century has fitted Fuji BNHG style guides to their marine shore rods. This guide pattern has proven to be very durable and reliable however Fuji has released a guide that Century think is better. It is the KWAG series (see image below) constructed from polished marine grade stainless steel with an Alconite centre.

The main features that Century endorse on this guide are deep pressed, compact frame that sits well on casting rods yet still eliminates any area where line can "catch" on guide frame. The flared frame radius exceeds ring diameter allowing looped-line tangles to slip forward and release automatically. The slightly forward ring angle promotes fast, "self-starting" tangle release.

The S-Line 656 series has been especially designed to suit the very demanding world of beach and shore fishing, that requires absolute precision and finest tolerances to enable to cast, brake and retrieve the lead and bait.

The Akios flagship reel, the S-Line 656 CTM is the casters dream due to the technical specification of brass gears, carbon drag washers, brass, chrome plated corrosion resistant side plates, upgraded stainless power handle, upgraded spool release spring to stop reel re-engaging during cast, centrifugal brake, fully adjustable magnetic brake positioned on the left hand side plate by the turn of the chromed knobby.

This model being a CT has no level wind, and therefore has no resistance during casting so will cast to the horizon! Be sure to take care and get ready with the brakes!!

The S-Line 656 CSM is all of the above but with the added feature of an adjustable magnetic braking system, adjustable by a chrome knobby on the left side plate, that can be adjusted before or during the cast, and appeals to those who still prefer to have a level wind.
