I won this reel (a 2500 RA) in a club raffle and it sat for some time in my tackle cupboard before I spooled it up with 3lb line and attached it to my Drennan Competition Float. The lightness of the reel complemented the light float rod and I decided to give the combo an outing to the Lower Itchen Fishery in search of grayling. The reel performed faultlessly even when a 5lb 2oz chub decided to muscle in on the grayling and trout I was catching. The clutch was smooth without any sign of jerkiness and the whole reel just felt right. Line lay is good, and certainly better than the price of the reel entitles you to. The bail arm snaps shut with a reassuring solid feel and, despite it's light weight, you get the impression that this reel will last the distance. I have no idea how Shimano do it for the price - but I'm glad they do!!! |
