Illusion reel line exhibits an abrasion resistance higher than any monofilament we have seen even our own Soft Steel which is widely considered to be a front runner in this aspect. In fact Illusion is more than TWICE as tough as the best available nylon / co-polymer mainlines. This superlative performance is the result of the line comprising a dual core, with the outer sheath specifically designed to withstand abrasion. This also makes the line resilient to UV degradation, increasing its lifespan.
Fluorocarbon exhibits the lowest sub-surface visibility of any monofilament, with a Light Refraction Index of just 1.42 (only 0.09 different from that of water). Standard monofilaments tend to fall between 1.53 and 1.62 making them far more obtrusive to wary fish.
Illusion Fluorocarbon is 78% denser than water which results in the line sinking extremely well and discreetly following the contours of the bottom when fished as a slack line. This important aspect reduces the incidence of line bites which can spook carp from the swim. By comparison, standard monofilaments are just 15% heavier than water, and can appear almost neutrally buoyant at times.
When fished as a tight line (for example when angling at range), Illusion also offers an important advantage in that it incorporates up to 10% less stretch than standard monofilaments, providing enhanced bite indication.
Illusion Fluorocarbon is non hydroscopic. This means that unlike standard lines, it does not absorb water and will retain full knot strength during use.
Illusion Fluorocarbon should be spooled as shown for the best performance and lowest element of twist. All reel lines, regardless of type or manufacturer should be checked at regular intervals for surface damage. This can result from use around bars, rocks, thick weed and snags. Should any damage be found, the length of line should be stripped off immediately to prevent fish or tackle losses.
