The new Calcutta B series, like its predecessor, is constructed from a cold forged aluminium frame, side plates and spool, which create a strong frame with tighter tolerances. The reels also feature the Variable Brake System (VBS) that uses centrifugal brake weights to aid cast control.All reels feature Shimano's A-RB stainless steel ball bearings, Super Stopper to eliminate back play and enable solid hooksets, and a Dartanium drag. The larger 400BSV and 700BSV include a clicker that increases the tension on the freespool and activates a "fish-on" clicking alarm whilst the 400BSV and 700BSV also have 3-Position Power Grips that allow for three diff erent hand positions for various fishing techniques. The 400BSV and 700BSV are designed without a top crossbar or level wind to provide better access to the spool.
