  'NOT WITHOUT ITS FAULTS'
Strengths: -100% waterproof. With 10,000mm hydrostatic material and twin skin construction this thing isn't going to leak. -Strong. The Poles are solid under tension and the whole thing sits like a rock in the wind with very little to no flap in the wind. -Space. Plenty of room inside, dare i say enough for long sessions. I fish a lot shorter sessions and find there to be almost too much space inside but this can't be held against it especially when the room it consumes on the peg isn't actually that much. You can get it into most swims especially if you use it umbrella style. -Options. You can have it completely storm proof with both skins pegged and zipped down, roll one side up or have both sides rolled up to get an umbrella effect. In the first skins door you can have mossie net, clear cover or matching green cover with two optional mozzie's in the walls either side of the door. Ground sheet is removable. -Ventilation. 4 big mesh panels in the roof of the bottom skin and the optional mesh in the door mentioned in the options section means that the STI boasts excellent ventilation and i've never experienced condensation.
Weaknesses: -Time of erection/taking down. Supposedly rapid erection the bivvy can take a fair bit of time to put up due to its dedicated twin skin nature and construction of poles. This is especially true in uneven swims because of pegging down issues. It doesn't take a huge amount of time but it isn't as quick as other 'quick erect' bivvies. Taking down takes longer and can be strenuous when taking the poles apart. -Groundsheet. In my opinion it is too heavy and adds too much weight to the bivvy when in the bag. The velcro function is extremely pointless as there is only velcro in the corners of the sheet and not all the way around. This means that insects still get in and only serves to make removal a little easier. If you are thinking that it is the equivalent to a sown in groundsheet you would be wrong. -Weight. At 14kg the bivvy is extremely heavy, mostly down to the groundsheet, and can be a pain to carry to swims far away.
Overall: The JRC STI twin skin is an excellent bivvy. Once up, it is extremely strong and waterproof and all you could really ask for. There's plenty of space and ventilation and theres enough versatility to keep most happy. However, getting it to the swim and erecting can take a little more effort than you would like especially when fishing short sessions. Taking it down again can extend packing up time when compared to other 'easy erection' bivvies and all this adds up to one thing: A great bivvy for longer sessions or extreme weather. I'm not saying that its tedious for shorter sessions, I'm just saying i'm looking elsewhere at the moment to make things a little quicker and more convenient. At 140 quid at the minute this bivvy is excellent value for money.
